Stars of television’s Strictly Come Dancing ROBIN WINDSOR and KRISTINA RIHANOFF are set to bring fire and passion to THE SHAFTESBURY THEATRE, LONDON in the electrifying dance spectacular BURN THE FLOOR. This breathtaking live show, that totally reinvented Ballroom and Latin dancing, returns in a new production that will begin a limited season from WEDNESDAY 6 MARCH. PRESS NIGHT: MONDAY 11 MARCH @ 7PM.
Currently the world’s leading ballroom dance show, having dazzled audiences in more than 300 cities worldwide, including its 2009/10 Broadway run, BURN THE FLOOR is considered the breeding ground for the future talent of both TV’s Strictly Come Dancing and, worldwide, Dancing With The Stars.
In true Burn the Floor style, as the acknowledged leaders in the new Ballroom style, this re-envisioned West End production will feature new choreography, music and orchestrations, under pinning its claim to being the “Ultimate Ballroom Spectacular.”
From Harlem’s hot nights at The Savoy, where dances such as the Lindy, Foxtrot and Charleston were born, to the Latin Quarter where the Cha-Cha, Rumba and Salsa steamed up the stage, Burn the Floor takes audiences on a journey through the passionate drama of dance. The elegance of the Viennese Waltz, the exuberance of the Jive, the intensity of the Paso Doble - audiences will experience them all, as well as the Tango, Samba, Mambo, Quickstep, and Swing.
ROBIN WINDSOR has performed across the world, on Broadway and the West End in Burn the Floor and Floorplay since 2000. He is currently partnering Lisa Riley on Strictly Come Dancing in his third series (previous partners were Anita Dobson and Patsy Kensit). His dance partner KRISTINA RIHANOFF is currently starring in her 5th season of Strictly Come Dancing where she has partnered John Sergeant, Joe Calzaghe, Goldie, Jason Donovan and this year Colin Salmon. In 2009 she jointly choreographed BBC3’s Dancing on Wheels.
Joining Robin and Kristina will be KAREN HAUER who was a principal dancer in Burn the Floor throughout 2010 and 2011. Karen is currently starring in her first season of Strictly Come Dancing partnering Nicky Byrne.
Direct from Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan Burn the Floor brings the talents of 18 award-winning international dancers from around the globe - England, Italy, South Africa, Australia, Slovenia, Venezuela, Uruguay, Philippines and the United States and includes Australian Ballroom and World Latin American champions.
The dancers, who collectively hold more than 100 dance titles, move to the vision of artistic director and choreographer JASON GILKISON. A former World Champion Latin and Ballroom dancer, Jason Gilkison is a guest choreographer and judge on So You Think You Can Dance, guest choreographer on Dancing with the Stars and joins Strictly Come Dancing as a guest choreographer this autumn.
