David Burrowes said " I was pleased to meet the Consortium and confirm that the Government's commitment to the future of Turkish GCSEs and A levels is cast iron. I recently met with the Schools Minister and have tabled parliamentary questions on the subject. The Minister has confirmed that the pre-election promise to secure Turkish exams future is being kept. A consultation with relevant stakeholders has begun and it is a question not of 'if' but 'how' and 'when' Turkish exams are formulated for the new curriculum. OFQUAL and the exam board needs to provide the Turkish community with an agreed way forward as soon as possible. I will continue to champion the cause of modern languages like Turkish. I will press Ministers to keep a close eye on progress to ensure everything is in place this year for roll out of the new curriculum wih Turkish GCSEs and A levels in 2017/18."
