The adventure of water is the historical adventure of human. Water is a game, it is life, it is art. Just like in the works of Melike Taşçıoğlu who plays with water, creates new worlds with water. Melike Taşçıoğlu makes us question the concepts of water, time and human through her works in which she shows the spatial games mankind has been playing for hundreds of years and how water can play a role in art. In Melike Taşçıoğlu's works, the reality of the geography we live in creates the basis while the upper layers created with ebru represents the covering, protective and reflective aspects of water. Aquaspheres, with its language communicating the water/life relationship in its visuals, are spheres of life we shelter ourselves catching life with city, human, water and colors.
In Melike Tascioglu's works the blueprints of urban plans are the basis of the works and the digital processes applied break the original prints to the artist's language of the breaking/remaking, rebuilding. In the traditional ebru technique, the image prepared on the container is transferred to the paper at once, while Melike Taşçıoğlu continued to push the boundaries of the known depth of the surface and the search for the meaning by applying each layer one by one to create many layers of ink on top of each other.
In the eyes of an artist, İstanbul can not be monochromatic; it is like a reverie, a dream city of many layering colors; in Melike Tascioglu's works an artist from Ankara wanting to capture the spirit of İstanbul has colored the capital of Byzantine and the Ottoman with mottled colors and has has created her own İstanbul as a person from Ankara.
The nesting of the tradition and the modern, the togetherness of the historical and cosmetic, the city of water, the city of color İstanbul. The feminine interpretation of istanbul by a woman artist by the random plus and circles, the transition of the masculinity and femininity in the texture to the soul of a city of the grace and beauty to even affect the way it flows, the display of the tiring question wanting to be answered; in an age of architecture that is becoming more and more rigorous to take hold of the souls of the cities, the artist invites us to the worlds of softened borders in which water is uniting.
