The happiest place in the UK is not what you expect

WORLD

This year a third of British adults said they are happy, up 1.7 percentage points on last year.

Over one in four adults (27%) in the UK rated their life satisfaction "very high", that's up 0.8 percentage points since the previous year. Only 6% of them rated their life satisfaction at a low level.

We've dug a little deeper in the ONS's well-being report.

London is one of the most miserable places in the UK

Londoners are less miserable and anxious than 3 years ago. But their well-being still remains below the UK average of all four measures: levels of happiness, anxiety, life satisfaction and the sense that what they do in life is worthwhile.

Within London, the residents of the borough Hackney report the highest levels of anxiety.
