After a chaotic march on 1 September that saw some 20 arrests, the group are now making plans to return to the borough on 27 October.
Waltham Forest Council and its partner the Waltham Forest Guardian believe this behaviour is tantamount to the harassment and intimidation of our wonderfully diverse community.
On Monday 24 September Waltham Forest will present a united front, coming together for a photoshoot decrying the behaviour of the EDL and calling on Theresa May, Boris Johnson and other leaders to put the brakes on the group's divisive plans.
Waltham Forest Town Hall, Forest Road, Walthamstow, London E17 4JF, 12noon, Council Leader Chris Robbins will be available for interview, alongside representatives from the local community.
"Waltham Forest will not become a battleground for any group of extremists," said Council Leader Chris Robbins. "We will stand up to all those organisations whose main aim is to incite hatred and racism.
This is why we have written to the Home Secretary Theresa May, asking her to take steps to protect our community and to meet with me urgently to discuss this issue.
"Waltham Forest is a fantastic community made up of residents from all sorts of backgrounds and walks of life. It's these differences that make the borough the place it is today - we're part of a thriving city that is united, strong and stands together."
