Turkey condemns UNRWA school attack in Gaza

POLITICS

Turkish foreign ministry issued a statement Monday condemning the Israeli shelling of a UN school on Sunday which killed a least ten Palestinians and wounded 50. "We fully agree with UN Secretary General's comments about the attack, that it is a criminal act," said the statement. The UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said the attack, along with other breaches of international law, must be swiftly investigated and those responsible held accountable. Palestinian civilians, UN staff and UN premises "must be safe zones, not combat zones," he stressed. "It is a moral outrage and a criminal act." The ministry also called on the international community to act against Israel's "unprecedented attacks". Another 61 Palestinians were also confirmed killed Sunday, which brought to 1,830 the total number of Palestinians killed since the beginning of the Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip on July 7, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
