Reacting to Ed Balls' article talking down the British economy and attacking the Help to Buy scheme (link), Conservative MP Nick De Bois said: 'Conservatives have stuck to our economic plan and it is working. Our economy is turning the corner, with 1.4 million new private sector jobs. This is the only way of raising living standards.
'Help to Buy is about helping people to buy a home, if they can't get a deposit from the "bank of Mum and Dad". We cannot just stand by and do nothing to help them – as Ed Balls suggests. If you dream of owning your own home, the Conservatives are on your side.'
