Iran makes three proposals to Turkey for better relations

Iran's Vice President Lotfollah Forouzandeh Dehkordi has said that they made "clear" proposals in regards to Turkey-Iran relations during their Ankara visit and the proposals were accepted by Turkish officials. Dehkordi, who was in Ankara for a formal visit upon the invitation of Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag, expressed the actual reason for his visit as researching the legislative process of the Turkish parliament. "Considering Turkey's historical experience with the parliamentary system, there is a considerable amount of capacity for further cooperation between our countries," Dehkordi noted. "We made three proposals to Turkey in order to enhance inter-parliamentary cooperation between Turkey and Iran. The first proposal was knowledge and experience sharing among the research centers of Turkish and Iranian parliaments. The second was cooperation in the legislation in fields of employment, economy and banking system. The third was preparing drafts to ease bilateral relations and amending current laws if any are preventing Turkey-Iran cooperation," Dehkordi stated.

Meeting with Turkish Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek and Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag, Dehkordi said "Iran heads for a more democratic and competitive election compared to the previous ones," regarding the Iranian presidential elections on June 14.

Responding to a question about the atmosphere in Iran ahead of upcoming presidential elections in June 14, Dehkordi noted that there was a fertile environment for competition.

"Fortunately, the election process is running smoothly right now," he added.

"In light of its past experience in elections, Iran heads for a more democratic and competitive election compared to the previous ones. The results of the recent polls signal a broad participation of Iranian people in the elections," pointed Dehkordi.

Dehkordi also commented on the efforts towards peace talks in Syria to solve the Syrian crisis, saying "talks and dialogue in Syria must continue."
