High Representative of EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Cathrine Ashton stated that the EU foreign ministers told Lavrov that EU and Russia are strategic partners and the EU-Ukraine cooperation would not have any adverse effect on Russia.
It was reported that Lavrov had said in the meeting that the DFCTA agreement between EU and Ukraine may open the Russian markets' door to EU goods.
In a statement to journalists, Lavrov also expressed that sovereignty and decisions of each and every state shall be respected.
