Covid lockdown part 2. To ensure no person is left alone Turkish Cypriot Community Association (TCCA) has launched a myriad of new and innovative provision that have been built on the pioneering work that saw TCCA lead the way in services that support the isolated, vulnerable and those needing care during the first wave.

With new government restrictions coming into play on the 05th of November 2020, it was essential that as an organisation stepped up and utilised its experience to ensure that no person in need is left alone. TCCA facilitated the opening of its new Covid Support base within the restaurant space previously occupied by Cyprus House. The initiative includes: an enlargement of the Befriending Initiative, Introduction of a dedicated bi-lingual covid-19 site, borough-based food deliveries, counselling service, pharmacy collections, re-introduction of televised community based information, regulation support to micro businesses, what’s-app daily briefings, nutrient packs being sold as part of the initiative, further development of partnerships, with further additions to the initiative to be introduced within the next two weeks. The services will operate throughout London in particular Enfield, Haringey, Hackney, Islington, and Southwark. TCCA is due to be holding a virtual meeting with fellow members of the Turkish Emergency Initiative to see how as a community we can best respond to the needs of the community during these extremely difficult times. TCCA also announced that it will become a Street Box centre (the provision of high quality vegetables and fruit) at low cost, funds from which will allow a separate street free of charge for those in need.

Erim Metto TCCA CEO said “The most important part of this initiative is our elderly, frail, isolated and those need, we have been there from day one and will remain till the pandemic is over.
