London Underground launches above ground map of the Victoria line

NATION

Londoners and visitors travelling through Vauxhall Tube station today were treated to a surprise, as London Underground used the services of two local goats and an alpaca to launch an illustrated map of the things to see and do above the Victoria line. London Underground's furry friends, Fred and Barney the goats and Ben the alpaca were visiting Vauxhall Tube station from their home at nearby Vauxhall City Farm, one of the destinations featured on the above ground map. The farm was selected to feature on the map alongside places like Walthamstow Market and Finsbury Park's Park Theatre, to highlight some of the hidden gems located just above the Victoria line. The above ground illustration of the Victoria line forms part of TfL's 'Without leaving London' campaign to help Londoners and visitors get more out of the capital within easy reach of the transport network be it by Tube, bus, bike, rail or the Emirates Air Line.

Station by station the new illustration shows the variety of enjoyable things to see and do for little or no cost above one of the most popular Tube lines. From the world famous Buckingham Palace, Spencer House and Tate Britain to impressive hidden gems, the 16 attractions were selected by TfL to highlight how much there is to explore without leaving the capital.

Nigel Holness, Operations Director at London Underground said; "The above ground map of the Victoria line is a great way of illustrating some of the many enjoyable things to do and see without leaving London – including seeing goats and alpacas right here in the city."
