Enfield Council is drafting its Modern Slavery Strategy for 2023-2028 and wants residents views to ensure it effectively raises awareness of the issue and helps those effected by exploitation.Modern slavery is defined as making someone do something against their will which benefits another person. The Council’s new strategy will build on the previous Modern Slavery Strategy 2020-2023 and the successes of the Modern Slavery Team. The Council is consulting residents on which policies would be best to tackle modern slavery in the borough.

Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Health and Social Care, Cllr Alev Cazimoglu, said: “We are asking important questions to our residents on their knowledge of modern slavery in our questionnaire.

“I would encourage all residents to take five minutes out of their day to provide us with their views.

“We would particularly like to hear from those who work, study or live in the borough, including representatives of organisations from the statutory and voluntary sectors. But it is important that we receive a wide-range of responses and welcome the views of all.”
