MP David Burrowes referred to Ofsted's observation that school links with local employers have let down the most vulnerable and commended 'the good example of Transport for London's Steps into Work programme, which is bucking the national trend; instead of only 6% of those with learning disabilities getting into work, some 57% are doing so'.

This followed a visit by Mr Burrowes to TfL's Steps into Work Programme end of year presentation where he congratulated students on their achievements and recognised that the programmes successes in ensuring disabled people have the opportunities and support they need to get and keep a job. Barnet and Southgate College is a key partner in the successful programme

The Education Secretary, Justine Greening agreed that 'the TfL programme shows how, when we get a closer relationship between employers, local schools and young people, especially those with learning disabilities, it can really make a difference in employment rates'.
