A Word on Books

Elisha Fields

Congratulations to Turkey for being the Market Focus Country for The London Book Fair 2013. This year's event will bring Turkish writers to London showcasing their work. The London Book Fair has about 25,000 visitors each year. If you want to go, it will be on between 15th - 17th April at Earls Court. I highly recommend this event for your diaries.

I think it's a shame that not many people nowadays are into reading.

Going off the track slightly, I am still sad that there are no more Borders bookstores in the UK anymore. One of the best feelings is going to someone's house and having good entertainment and that includes books. Yes, when you're sitting around someone's apartment and in need of entertainment, having a variety of books and magazines to flick through and read is great. Note to self: Must buy stash of books for guests.

It's worrying that so many people claim with glee that they've never read a book in their life. How many people have got a B without reading the book? It's even more worrying that many do not have desire to pick up a book and read. We're all interested in something right? Well there must be a book out there for all of us then. So many of us just seem so stuck in our bubbles, glued to our smartphones constantly, and ignorant of current affairs.

Spelling, grammar, and punctuation are slacking in so many of us these days. Maybe it's the use of txt and internet slang that has got us like this. I've probably made mistakes in this article but because we're all having a whatever attitude towards this, it doesn't seem to matter. The end.
