The failure of landlords or the letting agents to protect the tenants deposits into one of the government`s deposit protection schemes are very often being subject matter at courts. The failure to protect the deposits is causing the landlords or letting agents to lose cases against their tenants when they require possession of their properties. The deposits has to be registered with one of the schemes and the tenants must be informed of prescribed information within 14 days of doing so.
