Turkish national sprinter Mizgin Ay won gold

Avrupa/London - Turkish national sprinter on Thursday Mizgin Ay, 17, won gold in the girls' 100-meter final at the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World U18 Championships in Nairobi.

Ay crossed the finish line with a time of 11.62 seconds.

“I was nervous because my coach could not come to Kenya but I thank my coaches here. It was a good race”, she said.

According to Presidency sources, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan congratulated Ay on the phone after the under-18 contest.
