Annual Asian Food and Restaurant Awards returns to London

AVRUPA\LONDON - Following its entry on the UK’s hospitality calendar last year, the annual Asian Food and Restaurant Awards (AFRA) returns to London on Tuesday 31st July at Millennium Gloucester Hotel, Kensington. The event will continue to pay homage to the leading lights of the Asian hospitality, services and supplier sectors amid a who’s who guest list of ministers, VIP’s, dignitaries, celebrities and Asian restaurateurs and suppliers from across the UK. 

Following its inaugural ceremony in 2017 that was marked by a special message from HRH The Queen, AFRA 2018 will continue to recognize the achievements and contribution being made by South Asians across the UK food and hospitality industries. Each business tells its own success story through its service and products that should be applauded. The Awards aim to celebrate these special stories as well as honour the dedication and commitment of those who have spread their  love  for  Asian  flavours  through  their commitment to take the tastes and culinary culture  mainstream.  

As well as honouring the best Asian restaurants regionalised across the UK, AFRA additional award categories comprise: Newcomer of the Year; Chef of the Year; Cash and Carry of the Year; Wholesaler; Food Brand of the Year; Taste of the Year; Food Products and Supplier of the Year; Organic Food Products and Distributor of the Year; Brand of the Year; Caterer of the Year; Drink Brand of the Year; and the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award. 

Rumessah Maria, Vice Chairperson, Asian Food & Restaurant Awards says, “We are so proud that the Asian food industry has become such an integral part of UK culture, playing a valued role and significantly contributing to the economy and providing jobs. The Asian food industry, especially the restaurant business, has introduced new cuisines and cultures in the UK and the great thing is that the response has been so welcoming This year once again, AFRA will be introducing and celebrating new as well as heritage brands, cuisines, caterers, restaurants and suppliers and, most importantly, will continue to celebrate the contribution and place of the Asian food industry in British culture.”
